Anyways, the next article coming is related. I haven’t written it yet but I planned to write about my journey to printing my photos. This comment may have convinced me to do that.

While still featuring its legendary versatility and latitude in both exposure and developing, it has notably finer grain and smoother transitional tones. And of course, that’s great: today’s Tri-X is better than ever, it dependably produces brilliant b/w images. On the way home, we stopped in Hanoi, another fascinating destination. There was literally no photographic situation that you could encounter where Kodak didn’t have a product or service to help you. My favorite was the line of products for working in tropical areas where rot & fungus would ruin your film. They had that covered.
It has been the first choice for many top photographers over its lifespan - in fact when Kodak went through bankruptcy and restructuring in 2012 Don McCullin panic-bought 150 rolls of Kodak Tri-X in case it didn't survive the turmoil! Fortunately for Mr McCullin and every other photographer, Tri-X did survive and is still available fresh in both 35mm and 120 formats. At the new price point though I have begun to try it again and have taken it away on some visits to Devon and Cornwall and using it in one of the Zeiss Nettar cameras and using it with a Weston Master V light meter. Throughout it’s 80-odd years on the planet, Tri-X has found sustained demand from professionals, and, despite the advent and prevalence of digital photography (and, I suspect, lent a hand by the recent popularity of all things retro), it has gained a second life with amateurs.
