About this deal

We do genuinely think that the Backpod does a better stretch for the thoracic spine and rib cage than anything else on the planet. This is when I stumbled across Steve August, a New Zealand physiotherapist and recovered costochondritis sufferer. It's not the most comfortable thing to lay on, and it doesn't look like it is worth 80 dollars, maybe 15 at most, but to get rid of costochondritis pain, I would pay 500 dollars for this if I had to. It is not possible to build a single product perfectly suited to every patient; however the Backpod and its home programme should benefit the vast majority of upper back and neck problems.

Disclaimer: Used sensibly, the Backpod is safe for almost all common musculoskeletal conditions involving the upper back, middle back and neck. There is a detailed user guide, but for some reason, it isn’t included with Backpods that are purchased in the UK. As well as working up and down the upper spine, the Backpod needs to be positioned between your spine and your shoulder blades to target those tight rib joints. If this is the case, then loosening the back rib joints is the treatment for both of these painful conditions. If no luck getting a Backpod sent to your country, try getting a friend elsewhere in the world to send you one. When you have costochondritis or Tietze’s syndrome, exercise, lifting heavy objects, or even lying in certain positions can make your pain worse.

The iHunch refers to a result of our modern world, with smart phones, computers and an increasing tendency to crane the neck over a device for long periods. The user guide has a helpful graphic showing you exactly where to place the Backpod to target costochondritis and Tietze’s syndrome. These are our German partners, who sell the Backpod throughout Europe, including the UK, Norway and Switzerland. The Backpod is the treatment device that Steve August says can fix costochondritis and Tietze’s syndrome.

Bending forward requires the muscles down the back of the neck (especially the upper trapezius) to work several times harder than when the head is upright. It says to use three pillows, put your arms behind your neck and bend your knees and that’s how you apply pressure. If you’re looking to fix your costochondritis or Tietze’s syndrome, the Backpod might be just what you need. Much of the standard literature names the causes of these conditions as an injury or impact to your chest, severe coughing, which strains the chest, or physical exertion from sports or lifting heavy objects. If problems or pain persist when using the Backpod or following its home program, see your doctor or other appropriate health practitioner. This stretches out the collagen surrounding the back rib joints and allows them to move freely again.
