I really love this truly beautifully written way of retelling God's story for children and as a long standing christian and Sunday School teacher it has affected me greatly. I’m probably best known for my collaboration with New York Times Bestselling author Sally Lloyd-Jones. It's NOT a BIBLE (in the sense that it doesn't contain all the chapters and verses), but a collection of Bible stories (or should I say, Biblical passages) recounted.

The Jesus storybook bible is written and illustrated beautifully and is most definitely a handsome heirloom quality book. We are disturbed by how little God's grace is taught in churches, to be honest most Sunday School stuff is based around Old Testament stories and good behaviour - nothing wrong with either of course UNLESS you don't use them to point people to Jesus, which is something Sally Lloyd-Jones does brilliantly in this book. For example, at the end of the story where Moses comes down from the mountain with the 10 Commandments to see the people with the golden calf the book says "No matter how hard the people tried they could never keep God's Rules all the time. She’s almost 9 now and she read this book voraciously cover to cover in just a few days and keeps it on the breakfast table to read with some of her favorites each morning.A Bible like no other, The Jesus Storybook Bible invites children to join in the greatest of all adventures, to discover for themselves that Jesus is at the centre of God’s great story of salvation – and at the centre of their Story too. But she manages to show again and again the presence of Christ in all the Old Testament Scriptures, and the presence of the Old Testament Scriptures in the life of Christ.
