Pick a boss, connect the four dungeon boards, select the current adventure deck, and the game is ready to play. Each player has their own mini figure of their character as well as a 20-sided die in a matching color.

The thing is that you really do need to engage with the improv elements of Adventure Begins or you miss out on the actual fun that’s in this box. Younger players may also want to skip being the DM until they become more familiar with the game mechanics.Place the Boss tile in the Boss stand and place it in the gatekeeper space on that Boss’s dungeon tile.

Each of the four dungeon boards has three core spaces in the middle, two monster spaces to the sides, and one gatekeep space at the end. I remained the dungeon master through out the game, and didn’t pass it around, just so we could get used to the game play.
