About this deal

I also like to see enthusiasm for this type of YA fiction as, although it’s obviously not aimed at the likes of me, it shows a healthy market and therefore interest in reading, and in particular reading mysteries, among young people. The original investigation concluded with most of the evidence pointing to Sal, who was found dead in the woods, apparently by suicide. The creepiness levels of the book are super high, which is amazing for this genre, because it's not always easy to achieve the 'shivers-down-your-back' sensation.

My mouth dropped a few times, since this was YA and the style of writing almost read like an older middle-grade. Also, the constant twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat, never quite knowing what would happen next. Sophie is still mourning over her best friend’s death that took place hours later after Jay and Sophie played with the ouija board which was a good exposition. Throughout the month of ‘Spooktober’ I’m reviewing creepy reads, so make sure the check out the rest of my posts.Sophia goes to spend the summer with her uncle and cousins in their former schoolhouse home following the death of her best friend.

A spoiler section is found at the bottom which explains the ending for anyone who needs clarification. The centre-point of creepiness in the novel is the ‘Frozen Charlotte’ dolls, which Rebecca used to play with as a little girl. Although the story was simple, with little description or elaboration, it was easy to read and I honestly don’t think the story needed anything else – it was captivating and exciting. This is one of a series of books published under the ‘Red Eye’ banner from Little Tiger/Stripes Publishing and aimed at young adults. I thought the slight hints at romance between Sophie and Cameron were kind of weird, especially considering that they’re cousins, I mean they’re not blood related (Cameron is her mother’s stepbrother’s child) but it’s still kind of weird.

The book starts out like 80 or so years before this and the head mistress at the Dunvegan School for Girls on the isle of Skye is playing outside in the winter snow with some of the youngest little girls during their playtime outside, when she notices a very weird and abnormal incident going on with the girls who are playing with their little dolls that they had made in class. I’ve really not tried the YA market much so was really glad to hear what she had to say on it – and really glad she liked it too! From the very beginning, when Sophie is sitting with her best friend Jay in a diner and he presents her with an app of a Ouija board, you know things are not going to end well. well this starts out what will become the closing of the school for ever, the tragic death of the headmistress and some others are so well written that I actually thought about it at night when i went to bed.The Ninth Circle came out in April 2008 with possibly the most beautiful cover ever created (matched only by her second book, Jasmyn). To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I found that the mystery aspect really added a lot to the story and made it more engaging and gripping.

Aside from all these wonderful things that made me love Frozen Charlotte, do you know what my favourite thing was?The ratings for this book are pretty up there, so maybe everyone else just got something from this book that I didn't.
