About this deal

Through interactive adventures and beautiful animations, kids explore the big stories of the Bible. The Bible App for Kids is a delight-filled experience designed to encourage kids to return again and again. It’s the beginning of a lifelong love of God’s Word. That's why I've created a collection of fun and educational activities inspired by stories and teachings from the Bible and it's also why I enlisted the help of my sister-in-law, Sharla to help share her insights. She is a woman of confident and compassionate faith -- a trait I admire. The ICB might not be the best Bible option for Scripture memory or the Bible they take with them to college, but it makes a GREAT transition Bible through the elementary years.

Toddlers aren’t exactly well known for their ability to handle delicate objects, amiright? #4 Engaging and Toddler Approved! Two of my kids were early readers, and two began reading independently a little later. Consider your child’s reading level when choosing a Bible for your kids to read independently. If the reading part is a challenge, it is more likely they will resist reading the Bible. We want to help make their Bible time as accessible and inviting as possible. W Brueggemann, ‘Vulnerable Children, Divine Passion and Human Obligation’, in M Bunge, The Child in the Bible (Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 2008), pp. 399–422.This children’s Bible story book is different than the other two recommended for babies in that it includes actions! The stories are simple and short and include at least three actions with every story ( roar like a lion, pretend you are hammering, etc), making it perfect for babies 6 months and older. This was both of my boys’ favorite children’s bible well into toddlerhood! There are also gender-specific versions of the Baby Bible for boys and girls (although some of the stories are the same). We believe that God is the loving Father of all kids. It is HIS divine will that young people come to faith in Jesus Christ and find salvation through the Gospel and the work of the Holy Spirit to bring them to faith. It is not surprising then, that parents often find childbirth a profoundly spiritual experience and one which brings them close to God, and brings about a powerful sense of gratitude and miracle. To have been the nurturers and deliverers of God’s vocation teaches us something important about ourselves as witnesses of God’s action in the world. It also helps us make sense of God’s supreme act of self-giving in the incarnation of Jesus, conceived in Mary’s womb and born just as we are born. When we look upon children growing, playing, investigating the world and physically changing, we are being given insights into how God works in creation, making, changing and sustaining the universe. So when children today suffer abuse, neglect, or their lives are damaged by famine, war or disease, these things cut across the way God calls them into fullness of their humanity. As we respond as adults to God’s continuing vocation to be human, God lays on us the charge to make a world fit for our children to grow. How do we know God wants children to have life?

For our family Bible time, we pull from all of the Bibles below for different seasons, stories, and purposes. However, overall, we mostly use a full-text translation of the Bible. But when kids are young toddlers, they still have quite short attention spans. So while reading to them from the family Bible is very important, it’s also good to get the stories and concepts into their little minds using Bibles geared towards their age level. And we are very blessed that there are so many great resources out there to help. But I’d like to stress that reading the REAL Bible with your children is also very important. Reading these fun little Bible story collections should not be a replacement to reading God’s Word straight from the Bible to your children. Take time to introduce them to the “big family Bible”, from the moment they are born and beyond. Toddlers will still probably enjoy their Baby Bibles too! So break those out from time to time, especially the interactive ones like the lift-the-flap and touch-and-feel ones. At this point you want to imprint key stories and concepts into their minds and you want to make reading the Bible with them an enjoyable experience that they will look forward to. It’s all about creating good habits for later on at this point. Why you should have a variety of Bibles for toddlers.

I know, I know – you might be thinking “there’s no way my toddler is listening to the actual Bible.” But here’s the thing, the power is in God’s Word. His actual, real, life giving, Word. It’s important to give your child a taste of the real thing from the very beginning. This children’s bible is divided into 30 individual stories with 2 paragraphs each of rhyming text related telling each story. The rhyme and rhythm to this baby Bible make it the perfect read-aloud for babies. It isn’t the best in terms of content (explaining the stories, etc.), but it is an easy, rhythmic read-aloud Bible story book. We are so blessed to have access to such great resources to help us as parents to train our children up in the ways of the Lord. Whether it be specialty Bibles for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and beyond. These kinds of Bible story books geared specifically towards their age group are a wonderful way to instill God’s Word and truths into their little minds in a fun and engaging way that will help them to grow in love for God and His ways. These are really fun and engaging for toddlers and even though the stories are very short (a few sentences) and don’t have very much depth, they help to keep toddlers interested and still teach them about key concepts that happen within each Bible story.Yes, we own every single one of these children’s Bibles I’ve mentioned below… and these are just the ones that I like and recommend! You might wonder: Why do I need to have more than one children’s Bible? Well, I’m not sure that you “need” multiple Bibles, but I have found that not a single children’s bible includes all of the stories in the Bible (or all the stories I want to teach my children). This classic story Bible includes 200 retellings of Bible stories in language kids can understand but that also stays true to Scripture. This is a Bible that has been used, loved, and recommended for over 80 years! Luke 18: 15 People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. 16 But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 17 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” The Crucifixion and Death of Jesus We’ve tested out a lot of storybook Bibles and are always on the hunt for more! Since my six year old mainly reads from the actual Bible now, storybook Bibles are generally used for my toddler, so I’m always excited when I find one we love! This board-book baby Bible, much like The Pajama Bible, is written in beautiful poetry. There are only 10 stories included and they are relatively short (around 2 paragraphs each–perfect for a baby’s short attention span). The Bible itself is large enough to hug and the entire book is covered with a snuggly, sheep-like fabric (which you can’t see from the picture)! The emphasis of every story is on God’s love for us. This is now my go-to baby Bible for baby showers and baby gifts!

Young toddlers are at the age where they are very open and willing to hear about God. Their little hearts are so malleable and yearning to learn more about God. And even though it might seem like they are too young to understand much about God, they are soaking it in! They are soaking everything in from a very young age. And if your goal is to raise Godly kids who love and follow God then now is the time to start, when they are young and eager to learn about God. This children’s Bible is very similar to the Jesus Calling Bible Storybook. The illustrations are beautiful and are a work of art in themselves. The stories are relatively short and keep the attention of both of our boys. At the end of every story, there is a section called “God’s Message” which encapsulates God’s love and what He has taught the character in that particular story. Children’s Bible My preschoolers have loved this Bible, and the bonus is the audio CDs, so the kids can listen to the story as they read. We love that it emphasizes the Bible as one big story with Jesus at the center, and the stories are told simply enough for preschoolers to understand and remember. I also love that the stories are only a few sentences each. Even though you can’t get really in depth with only a few sentences, it’s a good way to introduce your toddler to so many stories from the Bible without risking losing their attention. So this is a great toddler Bible option![sc name=”clearfix”] The Baby Bible Series byRobin CurrieThis preschoolers Bible is brand-new to us. I actually bought it for Big Brother for Christmas this year, so he hasn’t gotten to read it yet. I have read several of the stories and I absolutely love the illustrations. At the end of every story, it has a “Jesus Calling” section with a scripture reference that emphasizes Jesus’ presence as well as how we can apply the story to our lives (“I was there when Adam and Eve left the Garden forever”; “Sometimes in this world, you will have to suffer for doing the right thing”). My only complaint is that not all the stories are similar in length, which could be a good thing for using it with younger children and siblings. Finally, a little bit of action goes a long way. God created light? Close your eyes tight and then open them wide. Jonah in the belly of the fish? Pretend to swim. Daniel in the lion’s den? Roar! I also want to note that the reading level of this Bible would have been too much (at 6 years old) for two of my kids. For those two, we choose one of the ICB Bibles listed above. HCSB Kid’s Study Bible— For ages 6+ I will not lie. It was not love at first sight with this Bible. Quite frankly, I thought it was…boring. So, I didn’t use it much with my firstborn.
