About this deal

As well as transforming what we can now expect WOLED TVs to be capable of with HDR content, the G3's mind-boggling brightness and unexpected colour enhancements suddenly make OLED a vastly more engaging bright room technology than it ever has been before. The C-series and G-series differ in that the latter comes with a bigger boost in the picture and audio departments, as well as boasting the new Micro Lens Array panel developed by LG Display. We expect the LG G3 to release around March/April and cost roughly the same as the G2’s launch prices, which we’ve listed below: There are four HDMI 2.1 inputs, along with a headphone out, digital optical out, Ethernet, satellite, two RF aerial inputs, three USBs, and a CI+ 1.4 (Common Interface) slot. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Bluetooth Surround Ready, and WiSA support (up to 2.1 channels). WebOS 23 also brings picture personalisation using deep learning technology to the LG G3. After guiding users through a series of on-screen images using the “Personalised Picture Wizard” to determine their preferences, this advanced feature analyses the content being displayed and optimises the picture settings accordingly, delivering image quality tailored to the specific content and user.

modes (Personalised Picture Wizard, Vivid, Standard, Eco, Cinema, Sports, Game, Filmmaker, (ISF)Expert(Bright Room), (ISF)Expert(Dark Room)) It does, to my eyes, still feature a little green tint in places but not as much as it did before. The audio performance disappoints, and this being LG’s flagship OLED, I’d have expected better. Sony’s most advanced 4K OLED, the A95L, also uses a QD-OLED panel but has no firm release date at present and the Japanese manufacturer is yet to reveal pricing for each of the 55in, 65in and 77in models. Two other leading brands – Panasonic and Philips – will bring MLA OLEDs to market this year. The former revealed the MZ2000 at CES in January, while an early build of the flagship Philips OLED+908 was showcased at TP Vision’s annual event in Amsterdam in February. Moving on, the LG OLED65G3 is incredibly bright out of the box. Small highlights fizz with intensity, there’s barely any reduction in the brightness output of larger objects on screen, with average brightness across various picture modes considerably brighter than the Sony A95K, contributing to brighter white tones, although with Dolby Vision content this position is reversed. An external soundbar – perhaps one of the latest LG models to take advantage of the G3’s new WOW Orchestra feature – or home theatre system is recommended to complement the TV’s outstanding picture quality. WOW Orchestra combines the TV speaker sound with a compatible LG soundbar to generate a synchronised output that’s more powerful and immersive yet harmoniously balanced.LG states that this is largely down to improvements made to its colour processing - though I guess it's also true that the way MLA works means there isn’t actually much more brightness being produced by the OLED pixels than there was before. The brightness increase is predominantly down to the light the OLEDs being produced emerging through the screen more efficiently. The LG G3 range is available in 55, 65, 77 and 83-inch versions, with a 97-inch version to come later - though note that the 83- and 97-inch sizes don’t benefit from the MLA technology that so transforms the other screen sizes. The G3 has plenty more strings to its bow, however. With a fantastic array of gaming features, impressive video processing, wide viewing angles and LG’s excellent webOS on board, it makes a strong claim for being the best OLED TV we’ve tested and is an early contender for the best TV of 2023. LG has earned a reputation over recent years for being ahead of the curve when it comes to catering for gamers with its premium TVs, and that reputation continues with knobs on with the G3. There’s support across all four HDMIs for 4K/120Hz and VRR feeds, with the VRR support extending to the AMD Freesync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync systems. While LG says it has made gains with their TruMotion processing, to my eyes it’s not to the level of Sony. You’re given three options: Cinematic Movement, Natural, and Smooth Movement.

LG G3 OLED TV: everything you need to know | TechRadar

This TV was made to be wall-mounted, to start; while LG has ditched the ‘Gallery Series’ naming convention from last year’s model, this is still a screen designed to be displayed proudly, like a painting in the Louvre. There were no other steps to get it up and running, I just switched on the set once plugged into power and was greeted with a bright setup walkthrough, which felt somewhat invasive with all its questions, but this seems increasingly standard with smart TVs. Assuming the G3 does not come with a stand, wondering what G1 or G2 owners did while they wait to mount their TVs. The LG stand is quite expensive, and also has an upward tilt that won't work for me. The Q-card list has been redesigned – smaller, and no longer featuring explanations. That’s brought the app row further up the screen and made room for a big ‘Now Trending’ bar, which I do find a little intrusive given that it is promoting all sorts of stuff (Shop Time?) but does at least have a shortcut to the last used input. The G3 and Z3 models come with a built-in ATSC 3.0 tuner to meet the latest signal standard in TV broadcasts in the US – and you won’t find this in the cheaper C3 / B3 models. LG G3 OLED: What we think so farThe LG G3 sits at the top of LG’s 4K OLED lineup and is part of its OLED evo range. Unlike last year’s model, the G2, it uses a groundbreaking MLA panel that delivers higher brightness, more impactful HDR and superior colour performance. Fortunately, LG offers a Cinematic Movement setting – the most effective motion-compensated frame interpolation among different TV brands – to mitigate these issues without introducing significant interpolation artefacts or the unnaturally smooth soap opera effect (SOE). That said, when watching 50Hz broadcast material, you’re best off disabling TruMotion altogether. With it active, there were occasions when I noticed visible microstuttering during hand gestures and facial movements, and frame skipping in slow-panning shots, particularly on stronger motion settings.
